Recent Purchases ~ Polishes, Clothes, K-pop

Been away for a while, but here's a compilation of some random things I've picked up over the past few weeks! I've certainly had more time to shop around (and spend money) since classes are finished, and I'm just waiting for one final on the 24th.

Here's some polishes I got from Superstore recently.
I've been looking for more neutral shades lately... I'm really wary of stained, gross, yellow nails these days, so every time I go to pick a colour to paint my nails, I always end up reaching for those neutral shades. I decided to cater to that habit and pick up these polishes. Essie Romper Room, Spin the Bottle and Angora Cardi (I swear I've picked this one up to look at it a billion times, can't believe I haven't actually gotten it until now). I haven't worn any of these yet, so I'm not sure how well they suit my skin tone and whatnot.

Next up is this t-shirt from TopShop. They're having a pretty big sale again, and I had my eye on a few things, but I only really liked this t-shirt enough to buy it.

TopShop grey graphic tee, $21, TopShop @ The Bay
Next up is this black and white polka dotted chiffon top that I got from The Bay. I had my eye on this for a while, and finally decided to purchase it the other day. I can foresee myself wearing this a lot, probably when it gets a little warmer.... Anyway it's super cute, glad I picked it up.

Phew, so on  Friday, I hung out with Cindy after she got off work and we went to the Plenty warehouse sale downtown at the Convention Centre. I didn't really know what to expect, but I found a few things that I liked and picked them up.
It was definitely smaller than the Aritzia warehouse sale held annually in the same building, and there were a lot of repeat items, but it was still worth the trip!
The first item I picked up is this sorta poncho-like cardigan. I fell in love with the colour but it only really looks good unbuttoned with the sleeves rolled up and a tank inside. I'm actually not sure how often I'll wear this... but it was only $15 and it looked good when I tried it on, so I decided to buy it in the end.

Propaganda purple cardi, $14.99, Plenty warehouse sale

Next up is my favorite piece I picked up from the sale! It's this cute little patterned chiffon blouse with red details. I only saw one and tried it on. It looked good so I decided to buy it.

Creative Concepts patterned chiffon blouse, $24.99, Plenty warehouse sale
Lastly is this black hi-lo midi skirt. Cindy actually brought this and tried it on, so I tried it on after her. It seemed like it would be okay when I tried it on at the sale, but I'm honestly not sure how often I'd wear this. At least it was no where near original price! It definitely hits below the knee, so it's definitely more flattering on a taller person.

Oh, other than buying these pieces, I also saw a top and a dress that I've purchased before from Plenty at the sale.
It was these pieces...

Sigh, well it did make me sad a little bit... seeing as the prices were lower than when I purchased them. But considering how long I've had these two pieces compared to seeing them at the sale two days ago? Yeah... it doesn't really matter that much :P

Okay! Lastly is this album that I picked up today. I'm supposed to have a whole bunch of K-pop stuff shipped to me soon... (hopefully next week, it's been like 3+ weeks, I'm getting tired of waiting ;~; they'll probably take around a month to arrive... -sigh-) Anyway I pre-ordered this from KR for $35. It's pretty close to the online price, so I thought I'd just buy it from KR.

If you didn't know, Infinite released an album full of instrumental tracks for most, if not all their songs. That's what this "The Origin" album is. Surprisingly, I'm enjoying the music more than I thought I would. I've been listening to the three discs all day. Of course, it's a hassle to have to switch the CDs, but I like that feeling of listening to music off a physical, concrete object. Only sometimes though, only sometimes.

Anyway, I think my favorites would have to be the instrumentals for Can U Smile (Acoustic Ver.), BTD (Before the Dawn), Because (Sungkyu's solo), Paradise, The Chaser, Be Mine, Come Back Again, That Summer, Nothing's Over and Man in Love. Haha you can say that I'm really indecisive... or that I'm just a huge fan of Infinite's music. :)

The packaging for this album is really something... It's like a grand package. I think there's two versions? And the only difference is the colour of the coin inside. There's a silver one and there's a gold one. I ended up getting the silver one. I sorta wish I got the gold one, but oh well. What can you do? It's not like I'm going to buy multiples just for that coin :x

I love how they re-designed the infinity symbol again.. It's so pretty! Serious props to Infinite's graphic/packaging designers.
The album comes with three discs (white, black and gold), with the instrumental tracks divided between them. It also comes with a coin and a booklet with hand written sheet music. I'm not really sure what instrument the sheet music is for, and my little brother, who's more familiar with music than I am, couldn't tell either. Sigh either way, I probably wouldn't be able to play it anyway, so it doesn't really matter. But it is a neat little addition to the package.

Alright, that's all for now! Man I've missed blogging. I think I might do a music/drama update for my next post... I've been spending my free time indulging in those, of course. :P
Okay see you next time! Bye!

I bound my own book!

This was the final assignment for my graphic design publishing class this semester. I am proud of it so I thought I'd share it here! :P

We had to design and type set two chapters of "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" and hand bind the book. I chose to do a hardcover, which I thought was going to be pretty easy, but it was actually pretty frustrating. The glue kept warping everything so there's some wrinkles here and there. Also, I got some of the dimensions a bit screwed up, so it definitely didn't turn out perfectly, but I'm still really proud of it and I really enjoyed the process!

Here's the front and back covers:

First chapter's first page

Second chapter's first page

Author biography

As I said earlier, I was actually sorta frustrated doing the hardcover and final touches for the book, so I didn't take many progress pictures for the project. I do have this one, though. Taken on my phone (iPhone 5) while I was hand-binding the book. That part's actually pretty easy.

Alrighty, hope you enjoyed!
